Betty Jo Watson Amick of Beckley, WV passed away quietly at the home of her son in Myrtle Beach, SC at 10:10 PM on Monday, November 14, 2022.
She was a loving mother of three children, the late Theresa Amick Plemmons, Matthew Otis Amick and wife Jackie of Myrtle Beach, SC, and Lisa Jo Amick Bennett and husband Seldon Bennett of Shady Spring.
Betty was a dedicated nurse at Raleigh General Hospital on 2 South for 35 years, and worked at the old Raleigh General Hospital for 2 years before that. She only missed one day of work to have gall bladder surgery.
Betty graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1960, and went on to marry Otis E. Amick who was a US Army Veteran.
She still loved to dance and ride roller coasters.
Betty is also survived by five grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.
She was the second daughter of four girls, to the late Frances Craver Watson Kufahl and William Watson. Betty loved her family and worked her entire life to take care of them. Her sisters are Billie Jean Watson Lewis and husband Wayne of Beckley, Joy Lynn Kufahl Walker and husband Billy of Beckley, Jenny Lee Kufahl Bragg and husband Dexter of Prosperity.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel in Beckley on Saturday, November 19, 2022 at 1 PM with Rev. Chester Cochran and Rev. William Plumley officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens at Prosperity, WV. Friends may visit with the family from 6 PM until 9 PM on Friday at the funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Roy Amick, Seldon Bennett, Steven Bennett, Eric Boggs, Wayne Lewis and Dale Garland.
