“The students of TCCTC are a hardworking and aspiring group of young tradespeople. Each instructor inspires a work ethic that is necessary to be successful in a given trade and challenges those who desire to perform in competition to apply their learned skills at industry-level standards. Over half of the kids who entered the district competition this year qualified for the state-level competition. This is a good indicator of how ambitious the students of TCCTC are to succeed. Many in the Tazewell County communities and schools are eager for what awaits these students in their next round of competition and what the future holds for them in their chosen fields of work,” said Sarah Cooke, TCCTC SkillsUSA Lead Advisor.
Looking ahead, 31 Tazewell County Career and Technical students will set their sights on the State SkillsUSA competition to be held in Virginia Beach, Virginia April 21-23, 2023. Ten instructors will be accompanying their students. If you would like to donate to assist with the costs for these students and instructors to attend the state competition, donations can be made to TCCTC by stopping by the school, via mail to 260 Advantage Drive, Tazewell, Virginia 24651, by contacting Lead SkillsUSA advisor Sarah Cooke at 276-988-2529 ext. 1722, or via email to scooke@tcpsva.org.
