CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Amtrak 50 & 51 Cardinal routes which serve southern West Virginia have been canceled for Sunday due to “intermittent communications issues” that has caused multiple disruptions within Amtraks rail service.
According to a release from Amtrak, due to a rail-industry control system that continues to experience intermittent communications issues, some Amtrak trains have been canceled, primarily in the Midwest.
Amtrak says they are working around the clock with its partners to continue troubleshooting and addressing these issues.
Affected customers have been notified updates will be provided as available according to Amtrak. Individuals may change their reservations via the Amtrak app or Amtrak.com. If your trip has been canceled, cancellation fees will be waived.
The Amtrak 50 & 51 Cardinal is the only passenger train that serves southern West Virginia. It runs on Sundays, Wednesdays, and Fridays twice a day.
