Joy Myrl Wyatt (nee Clay), age 87, of Cleveland, Ohio, peacefully passed away on Sunday, June 6, 2021, at Generations Senior Living in Berea, Ohio.
Joy was born in Montcoal, West Virginia to Lillian Esther Clay (nee Hurst) and Homer James Clay and was raised in West Virginia along with her seven siblings. She was a longtime, faithful Methodist and member of Pearl Road United Methodist Church in Cleveland. Joy loved her Church and assisting with preparing Holy Communion on Sundays. Spending time with and caring for her family were her favorite activities.
Her surviving family members include her daughter Joy D. Wyatt (Morris Pengilly) and her son Paul Wyatt (Dianne); her grandchildren Jeremy Naab, Lauren Ebeling (Craig), and Jessica LaPorta (Josh); her great-grandchildren Walter, Stella, Caroline, and Wyatt; and her siblings Emma Tulley (John, deceased), and Billy Joe Clay (Robin).
Joy was preceded in death by her beloved husband James Woodrow Wyatt in December 2011, and by her parents Lillian and Homer, and by her siblings: Maxine Daniel to whom Joy was particularly close, and Eugene Clay, Douglas Clay, Franklin Clay, and James Clay.
Joy’s family is forever grateful to the loving and compassionate staff of Generations Senior Living and Cypress Hospice for their kind support and assistance.
The family will receive friends at the BUSCH FUNERAL HOME, 4334 Pearl Road, Cleveland, from 5:00pm to 7:00pm on Wednesday, June 9, 2021.
The family will also receive friends at the MELTON MORTUARY AND CREMATION CENTER, 1200 Harper Road (at Sunrise Avenue), Beckley, West Virginia, from 11:00am to 12:00 noon on Friday, June 11, 2021, where Joy’s funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon.
Private interment will follow at Miller Cemetery in Rock Creek, West Virginia.
