BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Beckley Mayor Rob Rappold met with American Legion representatives Sunday morning for a moment of silence and prayer.
Residents, businesses, and organizations throughout the state have been simultaneously celebrating throughout the weekend and preparing to commemorate those who sacrificed and served on Memorial Day.
Mayor Rappold’s Sunday meeting with the American Legion was also in recognition for those who assisted in the development of the American Legion Post 32 Cemetery, which entailed the addition of flags and flowers over the weekend in remembering and honoring all local veterans who served our country.
Flowers were added by the Auxiliary, and flags were added by the American Legion to headstones of the 240 soldiers buried at the American Legion Post 32 Cemetery.
Joining Mayor Rappold for this moment of silence, prayer, and recognition were Robbie Jennings with the Squadron 32 Sons of the American Legion, Ellis Vest of American Legion Raleigh County Post 32 and 6th District Commander, and Teresa Townsley, VP of Unit 32 Auxiliary.
