BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Raleigh County Family Support Center on Thursday recognized the efforts and contributions of the Beckley Rotary Club in the RCFSC’s ongoing mission to support families in the local area.
The RCFSC was presented with a check for $2,000 for the purchase of iPads by Beckley Rotary Club Foundation Chair Tom Lemke. These devices will reportedly be utilized to provide families with a means of accessing information and completing applications for state and local programs.
Specific programs alluded to include Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, a program which provides free books to children ages birth-to-five, and for which only half of eligible children throughout the Raleigh County area are currently enrolled.
The devices will also be implemented to assist Raleigh County seniors in the completion of the annual FAFSA, which is currently completed by approximately 60% of Raleigh County seniors each year.
Along with the $2,000 contribution from the Beckley Rotary Club Foundation, the Rotary After Hours team contributed their personal time throughout the month of September to gather cleaning supplies for the RCFSC Pantry.
“We are grateful for this group of dedicated folks who believe families deserve to have clean homes when they are otherwise unable to access the supplies,” said Raleigh County Family Support Center Executive Director, Kellie Gunnoe.
