(Salt Rock, WV) The Bloomingdale Baptist boys varsity basketball team won their season-opener Friday night against the Mount Hope Christian Warriors (0-4) with a final score of 82-51. “The Bloom” never trailed and put up a great showing in front of their home crowd.
The Bloom maintained control of the first half, outscoring the Warriors 44-23. Mount Hope made a run in the 3rd, however, outpacing Bloomingdale 18-7 during the quarter and cutting the lead to 10. The Bloom got their act together in the 4th, forcing several turnovers and knocking down a few threes for a 32 point quarter.
Bloom Head Coach Tom Roten was very complimentary of the Warriors after the game. “You have to credit Coach Runyon and Mount Hope for that hard-fought 3rd quarter. Our guys had to really turn up the intensity in the 4th to come away with the win.”
Marc Brown (Jr., G) led The Bloom with 26 points along with 4 assists and 5 steals. Dorian Reese (Jr., G) also contributed 19 points, Â 4 rebounds, 5 assists, and 3 steals. Nolan Carney (Sr., G) led the Warriors with 13 points. Luke Snuffer (Sr., G) and Jase Lilly (7th, F) scored 12 points each.
Mount Hope will have a quick turnaround with a home match up against the Parkersburg Christian Knights (0-1) at 3:30. Bloomingdale will go on the road to take on the Teays Valley Christian Lions (3-1) on Monday night at 7:00. All Bloomingdale games are livestreamed on their Facebook page.
