BLUEFIELD, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Bluefield High School Science Bowl team has secured 4th place at the West Virginia Science Bowl competition.
The West Virginia Science Bowl consisted of 24 teams of four students answering questions about math and science.
Teams must finish in the top 2 teams of their division before competing in an 8-team double-elimination bracket.
Teams are invited to the competition by placing in the top 3 at their regional competition.
The Bluefield Science Bowl team, led by team Captain Nathan Yost, won four out of five games in the first round.
They then defeated George Washington High School before falling to Morgantown Team 2, then they eliminated Oak Hill High School.
Bluefield lost to 3rd place Wheeling Park High School. The Bluefield High School Science Department was awarded $300.
Bluefield qualified for the West Virginia Science Bowl by placing first in the RESA 1 competition at Concord University in February.
