SOUTH CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – BridgeValley Community and Technical College awarded $75,460 in scholarships to 64 students this semester. Scholarships awarded include Encova (formerly BrickStreet Scholars), Toyota/AMT Mobility, Poffenbarger Nursing, and Allied Health, Bill and Brenda Casto, Engineering Technology, Ralph and Jo Eary, Homer and Marge Taylor, and Whayne-Walker Caterpillar.
To apply, students had to submit an online application. Applicants are reviewed based on meeting the scholarship eligibility requirements.
“We are so grateful for the generosity of our donors”, said Alicia Syner, executive director of institutional advancement. “Many of our students rely on financial aid, grants, and loans to complete their studies. By awarding scholarship money, we are able to alleviate some of those financial burdens for our students.”
A seasoned paramedic and Encova scholarship recipient said, “I have recently gone back to school to become a registered nurse to further help my community. The financial assistance you provided will be of great help to me in paying my educational expenses, and it will allow me to concentrate more of my time for studying.”
