CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Charleston Mayor Goodwin announced the City of Charleston would set up two locations for city residents to drop off any spoiled food they may have due to the power outages caused by the recent severe weather events.
“We received several calls in our office asking for somewhere residents can take their food that may have spoiled due to the ongoing power outages,” Goodwin said. “While AEP is working to get power restored, we want to be helpful by establishing two locations where folks can take spoiled food, if needed,” Goodwin added.
City of Charleston Refuse trucks were at the North Charleston Recreation Center (2009 7th Ave., Charleston, WV 25387) and the Kanawha City Recreation Center (3511 Venable Ave., Charleston, WV 25304) from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. yesterday and will be on location again today, April 5, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Residents are encouraged to limit the items they bring to food waste. Residents can also place any spoiled food with their regularly scheduled trash services for the remainder of the week.
If residents cannot make it to one of the drop off locations today, they are encouraged to bring items to the Kanawha City Recreation Center during Charleston’s Team Up to Clean Up on Saturday, April 6, from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.
