ATHENS, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Concord University has announced that, through its Upward Bound program, a clothing closet is currently being developed to provide assistance for students.
The clothing closet initiative reportedly seeks to offer a broad array of clothing options for daily educational necessities as well as academic enrichment trips.
“By offering access to appropriate and stylish attire, the clothing closet will help ensure that students feel confident and prepared for their educational activities and school life,” said Concord in a statement. “This resource underscores our commitment to addressing the practical needs of our students and enhancing their overall experience in the Upward Bound program.”
The Upward Bound program itself is an educational initiative established to provide support and enhancement for the academic journey of first-generation college students with underrepresented backgrounds entering the educational realm after high school.
Participants in the program are offered a variety of services which seek to nurture a college-going culture. These include workshops, summers sessions, and academic counseling. The program also helps students to develop essential skills and confidence to take on the endeavor of higher education.
“By bridging the gap between secondary and postsecondary education, the program seeks to empower students to achieve their academic goals and pursue college opportunities they might not have otherwise considered,” the statement continues.
