FAYETTEVILLE, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Rainelle contractor faces up to a decade behind bars after failing to complete work for which he had already been paid thousands of dollars.
According to Prosecuting Attorney for Fayette County, Anthony Ciliberti, Jr., in January of this year, the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department received correspondence regarding a fraudulent exchange with a contractor.
The victim advised law enforcement that he had paid a contractor – identified as Shannon M. Davis, 50 years old of Rainelle, WV – a $3,000 down payment to go toward the removal of an existing fence and the instillation of a new fence.
Davis received the payment amount from the victim before failing to do any of the previously discussed work for which he was being paid. Davis is said to initially have made multiple excuses for failing to complete the job before cutting off communication with the victim altogether without returning any of the money.
On Tuesday, December 12, 2023, Shannon Davis was sentenced by Chief Circuit Judge Paul M. Blake Jr. to one to ten years in prison for the felony offense of fraudulent schemes. Davis reportedly plead guilty to the offense on October 19, 2023, and must serve a minimum of one year in prison before potentially becoming eligible for parole.
