MOUNT HOPE, W.V. (LOOTPRESS) – The Crossroads Mall Hallmark Gold Crown Store is closing after 20 years.
An employee of the store told Lootpress that they will officially close on Wednesday, January 26, 2022. The decision to close came from corporate, according to the employee.
More than 20 Hallmark Stores closed in the first half of 2020 and more have followed in 2021.
The company was founded in 1910 by the Hall family, who still owns the business. With paper greeting cards on the decline, the company said they were going to start focusing more on digital sentiments.
Erik Smith, General Manager of the Crossroads Mall, says they hope to have the space filled by the second quarter.
“We do have a couple possibilities,” he shared. “Our hope would be to fill it as soon as possible, but, worst-case scenario, we are confident that we can get someone in by spring.”
Smith stated there are no other details about the store’s closure that he can share at this time but said the mall is doing well.
“We’ve got fewer vacancies than we’ve had for a while, but we are still looking for a few tenants for a few of our remaining spaces.”
Hallmark will operate under its regular hours until January 26. All remaining merchandise is 50 percent off.
