GREENBRIER COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – On Thursday, March 24, 2022, at approximately 12:45 pm, members of the Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Office responded to Motor Vehicle Accident that occurred at the intersection of U.S. Route 219 and Maple Carriage Drive near the incorporated City of Lewisburg.
Upon investigation officers determined that a 2021 Dodge Challenger, being operated by a 28-year-old male from the Lewisburg area, was traveling north on U.S. 219 when the vehicle ran off the roadway on the right side and struck a power pole and road sign. The vehicle then traveled across Maple Carriage Drive and struck the commercial sign at the Greenbrier Bowling and Recreation Center where it came to rest.
The vehicle subsequently caught on fire and the driver was assisted from the vehicle by a passing motorist. The driver, whose identity is not being released at this time, was then flown by air medical services to an out of area medical facility for treatment. The condition of the driver is unknown at the writing of this release.
The Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Office Accident Reconstruction team processed the accident scene. The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Lewisburg Police Department and the West Virginia State Police. Also responding to this incident was the Lewisburg Fire Department and Greenbrier County Emergency Ambulance Service.
