BECKLEY, W.Va. (LOOTPRESS) – The Raleigh County Veteran’s Museum is celebrating the first day of its opening weekend on Friday and guests can expect some perks to prepare them for a new year.
President of the Raleigh County Veteran’s Museum, Ron Hedrick, says, to celebrate, the museum will be hosting a civil war living history demonstration with soldiers representing both the North and South. There will also be no admission to view museum artifacts.
Hedrick says another way they plan to commemorate a new year is to offer discounted memberships this weekend: Friday, March 11 through Sunday, March 13. Normally, the yearly membership costs $25 but the museum will only be collecting $15 from new members. There are also lifetime memberships for those interested.
According to Hedrick, these perks are part of an initiative to increase traffic to the museum. With big plans- and a new location- in the future, Hedrick says they need members and corporate sponsors now more than ever.
“We would like to see as many people as we can come out and see the museum,” he shared. “This is going to be a busy season for us. We are going to be pushing more and driving up fundraising and trying to get as many people as we can involved. This season will be better than the last.”
Hedrick reminded that you do not need to be a veteran to become a museum member. Those with questions are invited to give the museum a call at 304-253-1775 or stop by sometime this weekend.
“We will be there to greet them and answer whatever questions they may have! We can show them what the future of the museum looks like.”
