WINFIELD, WV (LOOTPRESS) – An impaired driving checkpoint is set to be conducted on Tuesday along Rt. 817 in accordance with West Virginia Governor Jim Justice’s Highway Program.
As indicated by the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office, from 8:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 5, 2023, authorities will be checking passing vehicles beneath the Winfield overpass in Winfield, WV.
The checkpoint is significant in that it will be conducted in memory of Deputy Larry “Eddie” Miller, who passed away on December 5, 2006, due to the actions of an intoxicated motorist.
Patience from the public has been requested by Putnam County Sheriff Eggleton as travel days could occur as a result of the planned checkpoint.
