FAYETTEVILLE, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Fayette County Commission met on Wednesday morning for their Regular Session, touching on a number of topics, not the least significant of which was the planned utilization of the Boy Scouts Welcome Center off US 19 as a Fayette County Visitors Center.
According to Fayette County Commission President Tom Louisos, a lease agreement will be signed on Wednesday for the lease and partnership with BSA for utilization of the building. The center, Louisos says, will be used to promote Fayette County recreation and development, and details for the center regarding a ribbon cutting and funding will emerge at a later time.
“To me, it’s a big deal. It’s an assert to the county,” Louisos said of the planned Visitors Center during Wednesday’s session.
Commissioner Taylor indicated that details regarding funding have yet to be fully identified due to the fact that it has yet to be determined which entities will occupy the center and in what capacity.
Entities mentioned during Wednesday’s meeting as potential candidates to utilize the space included the New River Gorge Regional Development Authority, Oak Hill Visitors Center, and Fayetteville Visitors Center.
The lease for the space reportedly will be in the nominal amount of one dollar.
