FAYETTE COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Heavy Rains last night brought localized flooding in the Valley communities. Sheriff Mike Fridley releases the following information.
⚠️ Road Closures ⚠️
•Cannelton Hollow Rd, from the intersection of US Rt 60 to 5 miles up the road is closed.
•Carbondale Road, complete closure due to Bridge damage
•WV Rt 16/38 between Jodie and Gauley Bridge is closed
•Rt 60 is open but use extreme caution on Gauley Mountain through Smithers due to debris and heavy water in the roadway.
‼️ Shelter is set up at the Alumni Center in Montgomery, and tetanus shots will be available for anyone who was affected by the flooding due to possible sewage in the water.
The Fayette County Sheriff’s Department, Montgomery PD, Smithers PD, WV State Police, Smithers Fire Department, Montgomery Fire Department, Boomer Fire Department, Armstrong Creek Fire Department, Jan Care, and DOH are still actively on scene in Cannelton and Smithers assessing the area. Please avoid the area.
‼️Any Resident with vehicle damage, a deputy will be at the Smithers Detachment of the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department to solely take insurance reports from 2:00pm-3:00pm‼️
