CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Showers will spread northward, mainly east of the Ohio River, Tuesday morning, and become widespread in and near the mountains early this afternoon, when thunderstorms also become possible.
The National Weather Service (NWS) in Charleston says that a Flood Watch has been issued for much of West Virginia for locally heavy rainfall, which could cause flash flooding.
While much of the Watch area received heavy rainfall on Monday, there is uncertainty where the heaviest rainfall today and tonight will occur, so frequently check your forecast for updates.
According to the NWS, impacts depend upon the streaky nature of rainfall, and whether it hits areas that got hit hard Monday.
Drier weather returns early Wednesday morning as the system exits, and then a cold front sweeps through after daybreak Wednesday morning, followed by a long stretch of dry weather that will last right on through the long Labor Day Holiday weekend.
