BUCKHANNON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A former executive director of the Upshur County Senior Center is facing felony embezzlement charges following a multi-month investigation by the Upshur County Sheriff’s Office.
According to a press release from the sheriff’s department, the Upshur County Magistrate Court issued a warrant on February 28, 2025, for the arrest of Tracie R. Thompson of Elkins.
Authorities allege that Thompson misappropriated $79,237.43 while overseeing the senior center.
The investigation stemmed from allegations of misconduct during Thompson’s tenure, ultimately leading to findings of financial exploitation of the organization.
Thompson is currently at Tygart Valley Regional Jail on a $79,237.43 cash-only bond.
Law enforcement officials have not released further details regarding the case.
