Fred Ray Cooper, age 74, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at CAMC Memorial Hospital in Charleston, West Virginia following a long illness.
Fred was born in Beckley, West Virginia on August 11, 1949, and was a retired firefighter for the City of Beckley, as well as a local outreach coordinator for the WV CHIP program.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred Lee Cooper and Edna Mae Green Cooper; his twin brother, Ken Cooper; and numerous other family members.
Those left to cherish his memory include his son, Brad Cooper of Beckley; nephew Ken Cooper (Amanda) of Beckley; his aunts Mary Messersmith, Brenda Wyant (Richard), and Wanda West.
A member of Cranberry Baptist Church for more than 40 years, Fred was known by his many friends and family for his unwavering faith in his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, a friendly smile and conversation to all who encountered him, and the passionate support of his West Virginia Mountaineers and Atlanta Braves.
Visitation will take place at Rose and Quesenberry in Beckley, West Virginia on Sunday, April 7, 2024, from 1 PM to 2:30 PM, and and the graveside service will take place at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens in Beckley, West Virginia at 3 PM with Pastor Kevin Cormican officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations of sympathy be made to the missions fund at Cranberry Baptist Church, 201 Cranberry Drive, Beckley, West Virginia 25801.Â
