WHEELING, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A man has been criminally charged for his involvement in a June motorcycle accident which claimed the life of a female passenger.
According to the Wheeling Police Department, the driver of the motorcycle involved, Darrell Anthony Morgan – 49 of Wheeling – has been charged with one count of DUI Causing Death after toxicology reports revealed Morgan’s blood alcohol content to be near twice the legal limit.
The accident in question occurred at around 1:20am on Friday, June 9, 2023, and saw personnel with local police and fire departments were dispatched to the Interstate 70 Exit 1B eastbound off-ramp where a motorcycle transporting two individuals crashed into a concrete barrier.
The passenger, a female identified by police as Missy Ann Grubba, 44 of Wheeling, WV – was announced dead at the scene. It was indicated early in the investigation that alcohol was believed to have been a factor in the crash.
Darrell Morgan was arraigned by an Ohio County magistrate on Monday morning and has since been released on a $10,000 personal recognizance bond.

WHEELING, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Friday morning motorcycle accident which resulted in the death of one woman is currently being investigated by authorities.
The Wheeling Police Department reports that, at around 1:20am on Friday, June 9, 2023, personnel with local police and fire departments were dispatched to the Interstate 70 Exit 1B eastbound off-ramp where a motorcycle transporting two individuals crashed into a concrete barrier.
The passenger on the motorcycle – identified by police as Missy Ann Grubba, 44 of Wheeling, WV – was ejected upon impact and was pronounced dead on scene.
The driver of the motorcycle – an as of yet unidentified male – was taken to Wheeling Hospital to receive medical treatment for injuries sustained from the accident.
The Wheeling Police Department Crash Reconstruction Team and Detective Division are continuing to investigate the incident and alcohol is reportedly believed to have been a factor in the accident. As such, pertinent charges are pending.
