George Edward Lucas, 80, of Ansted was carried home by the angels to his heavenly home to be with his Lord and Savior on the evening of April 21, 2024 at his residence with his family by his side. George was a fighter and his work on earth was done.
George was born on July 1, 1943 in Fayette County, he was the son of the late George W. Lucas and Evelyn Mae Lucas.
George was in the US Air Force for 4 years. He was a former employee of Elkem Metals for around 33 years where he was a computer instrument technician, George had a sweet soul and a heart of gold. He would lend a helping hand to anyone he could. He was a member of the Ansted Freewill Baptist Church where he taught Sunday school for many years. He enjoyed going to church and serving the Lord. He loved watching the WVU Mountaineers, and spending time and going out to eat with his family. George was very proud of his grandbabies and loved watching them play. Many of his days were spent watching his business news, reading and studying his bible. George finally won the battle and his sweet spirit will carry on forever.
On October 21, 1972, he was united in marriage to Rosie Jane Lucas at the Alta First Church of God, who survives at their home. George and Rosie was each other’s rock and their love for one another will carry on forever. They both love the Lord and they shine their lights for Jesus. Rosie always told him that he had to give them their 50 years together and God answered that prayer and gave them 51 years of happiness and love.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 51 years, Rosie; great nephew that he raised as a son, James Milroy (Jessica) Brown of Glasgow, WV; 2 special grandbabies, Hope JoEllen Faith Brown and Jayden James Gabriel Brown; a niece that he raised like a daughter, Deborah Naoma (William) Pettry of Beckley; 3 brothers, Frank Lucas of Shade Creek, William (Barbara) Lucas of Shade Creek and Fred (Carla) Lucas of Shade Creek; sister, Patricia (Bill) Niday of Shade Creek; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
