HUNTINGTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Huntington Public Works crews will begin the hauling away and disposal of damaged items and debris on Monday in areas most significantly impacted by the flooding which took place over the weekend.Â
Areas which fall under this classification include areas between Fourpole Creek and 10th Avenue from Hal Greer Blvd to 5th Street West, as well as Enslow Park.Â
Residents have been asked to arrange debris in a pile for pickup at the curb of their residence as they normally would their garbage. Those residing in areas where this cannot be done have been asked to arrange debris as close to the alley or street as possible for hauling.Â
Those outside of the above listed areas who have also experienced significant flooding and require debris pickup have been asked to reach out.Â
Garbage pickup will remain generally unaffected by the debris haul, though special pickups which have been scheduled are likely to experience delays.Â
Hundreds of free flood-cleanup kits were handed out on Saturday, though resources quickly diminished due to the overwhelming need. As such, delivery of additional clean-up kits experienced delays and are set to be distributed on Sunday.Â
Residents who have been affected by flood damage have been encouraged by city and county emergency officials to document damage through photo and video if possible. Also, receipts obtained from purchases pertaining to flood recovery should be saved, and serial numbers from damaged items should be documented if at all possible.
