BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Just for Kids Child Advocacy Center has announced that it will kick off Child Abuse Prevention Month with a Pinwheel Ceremony set to take place next week.
The event, scheduled to occur on Monday, April 1, 2024, will take place at Just for Kids’ Beckley location, Trudy’s House, located at 611 N Kanawha Street.
Featured as part of the event will be a proclamation read by Beckley Mayor, Rob Rappold, which will begin at 12:00pm and will precede the ceremonial planting of the pinwheels.
“Pinwheels have been adopted as the national symbol for child abuse and symbolizes the whimsical nature of childhood and the importance of all children experiencing safe and healthy childhoods, said Just for Kids Executive Director, Dr. M. Deanee Johnson of the theme.
Also featured as part of the event will be food and family-friendly games, as well as a 3:00pm photo session with none other than with the Easter Bunny.
Prospective attendees are encouraged to note that the event is contingent upon agreeable weather conditions and could see rescheduling due to weather-related issues.
