KANAWHA COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The National Weather Service on Monday reports severe thunderstorms throughout the afternoon and evening for the Kanawha County area.
The incoming conditions have brought about similar concerns to those experienced by Mountain State residents a week ago today, when nearly every county throughout the State of West Virginia was placed under a Tornado Watch as a result of severe storms.
According to an update provided on Monday, August 14, 2023, the National Weather Service has indicated that afternoon and evening thunderstorms throughout Kanawha County could bring about large hail, damaging winds, and possibly even tornadoes.
It has also been advised that these conditions could lead to localized flash flooding, and that lightning risk will go to level 4 by 5:00pm on Monday.
The Kanawha County Emergency Operations Center will reportedly be on standby throughout the day, and motorists operating vehicles in the stormy conditions have been advised to exercise caution while navigating wet roads and to avoid driving through high water conditions on roadways.
