ELKINS, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A man faces sexual assault charges after multiple encounters of a sexual nature with a teenage girl.
According to reports from Sgt. D.D. Pennington of the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, on Wednesday, December 14, 2022, contact was made with the sheriff’s office by a concerned parent regarding the sexual assault of a juvenile by a 20-year-old man.
The following day, Thursday, December 15, 2022, a forensic interview was set up by Pennington at the Randolph-Tucker Child Advocacy Center. During the interview, the juvenile disclosed that Dominic Currence had been engaging her in sexual activity such as sexual intercourse on multiple occasions. One of these occasions is reported to have occurred on Sunday, December 11, 2022.
On Wednesday, December 21, 2022, Sgt. Pennington spoke with Dominic Currence over the phone and made a request for Currence to come in to speak to Pennington regarding the allegations. Currence did agree to come in for a discussion.
Deputy Hebb assisted Sgt. Pennington at the interview, during which time Currence was advised of his Miranda Rights and right to leave at any time. Currence is reported to have signed his waiver of rights, agreeing to speak with authorities.
Admissions were made by Currence during the interview process which corroborated disclosures made by the juvenile during the previous interview, including those of sexual intercourse on or about Sunday, December 11, 2022, along with prior occurrences of sexual intercourse.
A warrant was issued and executed on Thursday, December 22, 2022, for the arrest of Dominic Currence for 3rd Degree Sexual Assault. Currence was arraigned on these charges and transported to Tygart Valley Regional Jail.
