ANSTED, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A man faces charges following a domestic incident which took place last week in the Fayette County area.
Reports from Patrolman Rice of the Ansted Police Department indicate that on Monday, April 17, 2023, authorities were dispatched to a Westlake Road residence at approximately 8:56pm regarding a potential domestic situation.
The situation in question pertained to Dylan A. Dempsey, who earlier in the day had brandished a knife and had assaulted Shelley D. Toney and Vanessa D. Hambrick. Dempsey was reportedly disarmed by the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office and a warrant was filed against him.
Toney and Hambrick had subsequently gone to the courthouse to file a DVP. Before the DVP could be filed, however, Dempsey was returned to the residence by his grandmother with the purported intention of allowing him to retrieve his belongings.
Upon arriving back at the residence, Dempsey is reported to have climbed over a locked gate, broken into the home, attacked Hambrick, climbed back over the gate, and gotten into his grandmother’s car.
At 9:03pm, Patrolman Rice observed a Honda SUV running in the driveway and approached the occupants to ask why they were on the property. Dempsey stated he was there to retrieve his belongings.
Upon making contact with the individuals inside the residence who had called 911. The homeowner, Toney stated that she had been in the shower when Dempsey broke into the residence.
A statement from Hambrick reveals with Dempsey had gone into her bedroom, put his hands around her neck, and begged her to take him back despite her efforts to tell him to leave. He continued to put his hands on her, and hung up the phone when she attempted to dial 911. She was able to successfully reach 911 and run outside.
Dempsey was detained and Patrolman Rive reviewed security footage which showed Dempsey jumping over the locked gate to enter and exit the residence as reported.
Dempsey was then transported to Fayetteville Police Department for processing and then to Southern Regional Jail to await arraignment.
He faces charges of Trespassing, Burglary, Domestic Battery, and Interfering with Emergency Communications.
