ELKINS, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Randolph County man has been arrested in the latest in a series of incidents involving trespassing and Possession of a Controlled Substance.
Deputy Pingley of the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office reports that, on Monday, July 3, 2023, a Personal Safety Order violation was dispatched regarding unauthorized entry into a residence.
Deputy Pingley responded to scene and was presented with the Personal Safety Order, which had been in effect since December 13, 2021, against a Justin Wamsley. The order stated that Wamsley is to remain from entering the residence of the caller.
The caller stated that Wamsley had gained access to the second floor of the residence early Monday morning and had made multiple trips to the second floor over the course of the Fourth of July weekend. The caller purportedly could hear Wamsley upstairs and later saw him walking down the steps.
The caller provided a signed statement to law enforcement and was instructed to dial 911 should Wamsley return, at which point he would be arrested.
Another call was made from the same individual just a few hours later indicating that Wamsley was believed to be back on the property, prompting Deputy Pingley to return to the scene. Deputy Pingley reports observing lights on the second floor upon returning to the property. Deputy Pingley encountered Wamsley upon making his way to the second floor of the residence, and reports having observed Wamsley eating a Hot Pocket at the time.
Wamsley reportedly complied with officer requests and was handcuffed and placed under arrest. The officer provided a digital copy of the Personal Safety Order and transported the suspect to his police cruiser.
A subsequent search of Wamsley’s person led to the discovery of needles and an elastic band purportedly intended for drug use. He was also found to be in possession of a plastic bag containing a crystal-like substance consistent with methamphetamine.
Wamsley was transported to Tygart Valley Regional Jail and has been charged with Violation of a Personal Safety Order and Possession of a Controlled Substance.
