Maurice Andre Dudley, 59 of Bluefield, formerly of Jenkinjones, WV, departed this life on March 23, 2024.
Born to the union of Thomas Quincy Dudley and Yvonne Burton Dudley-Townsend on February 15, 1965.
Maurice was a life-long member of the former Clinton Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church until its closing. Later, he attended and fellowshipped at several different local churches: Morning Star Baptist Church, Mt. Bethel United Holiness Church, Abundant Life Ministries, First Baptist of McDowell, and Wake Forest Baptist Church.
Maurice attended Mt. View High School, where he loved and play football for the Golden Knights. He had a passion for football and playing the bass guitar.
Maurice had a genuine heart of gold and a very humble spirit. He was a hard, diligent worker — always placing others before himself and grateful for everything that someone did for him.
During his life journey, Maurice held numerous positions at many businesses: Bassett & Lane Furniture, City of Keystone, Sealy Mattress and Eastern Vault/American Block has a Pre-Stressed Concrete worker until the time of his illness in 2022.
Maurice was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Quincy Dudley, Sr., mother, Yvonne Burton Dudley-Townsend; paternal grandparents, William C. & Ruby (Lynch) Dudley; maternal grandparents – Thomas Burton & Dessie Mae Burton-Bland; brother, Thomas Dudley II. Also preceding him in death include six aunts: Elder Corina Thomas, Thelma Scruggs, Gertrude Miles, Jewel Smith, Essie Mae Burton, and Hortense Conners.
He leaves to cherish his memory: Marissa Dudley (the love of his life), Pittsburgh, PA; two sisters — Yvette Townsend-Ingram and Kesha (Damion) Mason, both of Charlotte, NC; two uncles — Danny (Regina) Dudley of Columbia, SC and Clarence White of Bluefield, WV; four aunts: Ada Tate of Charlotte, NC; Dorothy Bader of Eatontown, NJ; Patricia Dockery of Washington, DC; and Claudine White-Ford, Madison, NC; Caregivers Cecil and Patricia Smith, Bluefield, WV; former wife Maryann; several nieces, nephews, and cousins whom he loved dearly; and a host of friends from the WV Manor and the surrounding Mercer and McDowell Counties.
Homegoing Services for Maurice Dudley will be held at Seaver Funeral Home, 1507 N. Walker Street in Princeton, WV on Friday, March 29, 2024. Viewing/Visitation from 11:00 – 12:00. Service at 12:00 noon ~ Bishop Fredrick Brown – Officiating and Rev. James Green, Eulogist.
