OAK HILL, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The city of Oak Hill held its monthly city council meeting Monday evening where bids to renovate the former BB&T bank building into the new Oak Hill City Hall were unsealed.
The bids were presented by Oak Hill City Manager Damita Johnson, who stated that the lowest bidder was Dan Hill Construction in Glen Ferris. Their bid came in at $2.1 million.
The highest bid received was over $2.9 million.
Council voted to accept the $2.1 million bid on a 4-2 vote. Councilwoman Christa Hodges and Councilwoman Diana Janney were the only ‘no’ votes.
Instead of using dollars from the city rainy day fund and building commission, Council voted to use bonds to finance the project which will be issued from Pendleton Community Bank.
Hodges and Janney were also the only ‘no’ votes on this motion.
The city of Oak Hill will be paying an estimated $5,500 a month for 15 months to pay off the bonds.
An estimated date for renovations to begin has not yet been announced.
