MERCER COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – On Monday, August 28, at 9:10 a.m., Trooper E. C. Nunn was dispatched to a motor vehicle accident on I-77 South near mile marker two.
TFC assisted Trooper Nunn. K. A. Filer and F/Sgt. C. K. McKenzie. Trooper Nunn arrived and observed a silver Infinity sedan traveling North on I77. The vehicle was sitting upright in the median with damage, indicating the car had rolled over numerous times. Trooper Nunn observed a  male lying unconscious in the southbound passing lane, suffering from an apparent head injury. The male was later identified as 30-year-old Rudolph Sinclair of Bluefield, WV. Mr. Sinclair was also identified as the driver of the vehicle. Trooper Nunn also observed a female lying on an embankment off the western side of the southbound lanes. Another male subject was observed to be very emotional with the injured female.
Trooper Nunn later identified the second male as 52-year-old Willie Daniels of Hagerstown, MD. The female, identified as 33-year-old Tashania Grantham of Hagerstown, MD, suffered from extensive injuries. Witness statements confirmed that Mr. Sinclair and Ms. Grantham were ejected from the vehicle. EMS transported all three patients to Princeton Community Hospital, where Ms. Grantham was pronounced deceased. Mr. Sinclair sustained severe life-threatening injuries and was transferred to Roanoke Hospital. Mr. Daniels sustained minor non-life-threatening injuries.
This crash was reconstructed by WVSP Accident Reconstruction Team members, who determined that excessive speed was a determining factor in the cause of the accident.
