WOOD COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – One person has died following a crash in West Virginia.
According to the Wood County Sheriff’s Office, on Saturday, October 21, 2023, at 5:01 PM deputies were called to the scene of a head-on motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Staunton Turnpike and Leechtown Lane.
A 2019 Honda CB1000 was traveling westbound at an extremely high rate of speed and went left of center striking a 2019 Chevrolet Malibu that was traveling eastbound.
The driver of the Honda was identified as William Mchenry, a 20-year-old male. Mchenry died as a result of injuries sustained in the crash.
An investigation revealed that Mchenry was traveling at speeds in excess of 100 mph at the time of the collision. The driver of the Malibu, Jaydon Holt, was transported to the hospital with minor injuries.
Agencies that responded to the crash included the Wood County Crash Team, the Wood County Sheriff’s Office, the Parkersburg Police Department, the Eastwood Volunteer Fire Department, Camden Clark, and Saint Joe Ambulance Services.
The investigating officer is Deputy D.A. Alltop.
