FAYETTEVILLE, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Parkersburg man was sentenced to prison this week for failure to register as a sex offender as required by law – a felony offense.
According to Anthony Ciliberti, Jr., Prosecuting Attorney for Fayette County, in October of 2021, Troopers with the West Virginia State Police made attempts to verify registry information for David E. White – 68 years old of Parkersbug, WV – at a Glen Jean, Fayette County address.
Further investigation into the situation revealed that White was no longer living at the address listed on his registry and would later be apprehended in 2023 in Wood County, WV.
White is required by law to register as a sex offender for the remainder of his life following a 1988 First Degree Rape conviction in the State of Oklahoma.
On Monday, December 11, 2023, White was sentenced by Fayette County Circuit Judge Paul M. Blake, Jr., to one to five years in prison for the felony offense of failure to register as a sex offender required to register for life. White plead guilty to the felony offense on October 6, 2023, and must serve a minimum of one year in prison before potentially becoming eligible for parole.
