PARKERSBURG, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Authorities are currently investigating reports received on Sunday of an incident of kidnapping and destruction of property.
According to the Wood County Sheriff’s Office, at approximately 8:30 a.m. on Sunday. 10/15/23, the Wood County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a kidnapping attempt as well as destruction of property having occurred in the 12000 block of Pond Creek Rd. in Rockport.
Initial reports relating to the incident n question indicated the potential involvement of a homeless male subject seen in the area.
An immediate search of the area was initiated by uniformed Deputies, and the Wood County Sheriff’s Office Detective Bureau began an investigation into the incident.
As the investigation was being carried out, a second crime scene near Parkersburg was reported and involved vandalism similar im nature to that which occurred on Pond Creek Road.
Witness interviews and physical evaluation of the crime scene(s) eliminated the involvement of the homeless male subject as a viable possibility.
The juvenile involved is reported by authorities to be safe and unharmed, and with family.
“The investigation remains open and a person of interest known to investigators has been identified and known to the victim’s family,” said the Wood County Sheriff’s Office.
“We wish those to know at this time all evidence appears to point to an isolated incident.“
