WINFIELD, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office announced this week that Corporal James Chandler has been recognized as the 2022 recipient of the Eddie Miller award, denoting the most arrests on Driving-Under-the-Influence charges.
The award takes its name from Putnam County Deputy Larry “Eddie” Miller who tragically lost his life following a motor vehicle accident involving a intoxicated motorist.
On Tuesday, members of the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office partook in an impaired driving road check in accordance with Governor Jim Justice’s Highway Program. The check took place in Windfield on Rt. 817 beneath the Winfield overpass, beginning at 8:00pm and continuing until 2:00am.
The checkpoint was unique in that it was conducted in Miller’s memory, and honored the date – December 5, 2006 – on which Miller tragically lost his life.
In other Putnam County Sheriff’s Office news, Sheriff Eggleton offered his congratulations last month to a number of PCSO members, including Sgt. Matthew McDaniel and Corporal Justin Vieth for their promotions to Sergeant and Corporal, respectively.
Additionally, two Putnam County Deputies – Deputy J. McClure and Deputy B. Morris – received congratulations from Sheriff Eggleton for their successful graduation from the West Virginia State Police Academy.
