GILBERT, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Larry Joe Harless Community Center recently announced the appointment of Quinn Miller as Interim Executive Director for the facility.
The announcement follows the departure of longtime Executive Director, Cheryl Mitchem, and came after a decision by the Larry Joe Harless Community Center Board of Directors.
Miller, a physical education teacher and golf coach at Mingo Central High School, has ties to the Larry Joe Harless Community Center going back decades. He, along with his best friend, Blake Burgess, are even purported to have been the first patrons through the doors of the facility upon its opening in 1999.
A resident of Gilbert, Miller graduated from West Virginia University with a degree in Physical Education/Health and worked part-time as the Larry Joe Harless Community Center Program Director prior to being brought on as Interim Executive Director.
Miller’s community involvement began at a young age, with both parents having been well-known and engaged in community matters. His mother – the Honorable Jennifer Miller – served as Mayor of the Town of Gilbert and taught at Gilbert High School as well as Mingo Central High School. His father – the late Jerry Miller – was a Gilbert High School football coach and teacher, and was a beloved figure in the local area.
As Interim Executive Director, Miller reportedly has plans for the implementation of additional programs and activities for the Larry Joe Harless Community Center.
“Watch for exciting updates as plans to expand programs and provide services to meet the needs of the area are rolled out,” said the LJHCC in a statement.
Additional information on programs available through the facility can be found at the Larry Joe Harless Community Center Facebook page.
