Robert “Bob” Lee Godfrey was born on November 25th, 1946, in McAlpine, West Virginia to his parents Bernard and Eva Ruth (Bryant) Godfrey. He went to be with the Lord on August 23rd, 2023, in Princeton, West Virginia at the age of 76.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents Bernard and Eva Ruth Godfrey; son Robert Lee Godfrey, II; grandson Joseph Alderman; 3 sisters; and 2 brothers; and his beloved cockatiel named Tweet.
Those that are left to cherish his memory include his wife of 17 years, Angela Ruth (Goodwin) Godfrey; children Roberta L. Alderman, Jeremy (Jessie) Willey, and Samantha Godfrey; stepchildren Amy-Marie Lilly, Christopher (Nicole) Wills, and Tara Wills; grandchildren Bryant Alderman, Victoria Godfrey, Jacob Neal, Elizabeth Willey, Isaiah Estep, twins Anna and Emily Estep, Riley Adkins, Chloe Wills, Kylie Lester, and Levi Lester; special family members Marilyn Allen, Joyce Hall Mooney, Charlie Plum, Kim and Chesney Walker; his bonus son Jode Jones and many extended family and friends who will miss him.
Bob attended Woodrow Wilson High School and following, served with the United States Marine Corps for 6 years. He furthered his education and then started working with Dowell / Schlumberger in the oil-well and gas services industries. He then retired in 2006 and traveled with his wife and later settled in Florida. They then became snowbirds traveling to and from Ohio, West Virginia, and Florida.
Bob, in his younger years, was a drummer in his band named, “One.”
He really enjoyed playing rock and roll music and later traveled with his son’s band, “Big Lick” which later on changed their name to “Strange Breed.”
