TAZEWELL COUNTY, VA (LOOTPRESS)– On Monday evening, SWCC released a statement requiring vaccinations for their workers.
Their decision was based on Governor Ralph Northam’s (D-VA) Executive Directive. According to the directive, all state workers must be fully vaccinated by September 1, 2021. If not, employees face weekly Covid-19 testing.
“As an entity of the Commonwealth of Virginia, the order extends to Southwest Virginia Community College faculty, staff, part-time employees and contractors who enter the workplace or have public-facing duties,” said the statement.
An exemption is in place for medical or religious reasons. All persons that refuse or are not fully vaccinated must prove a weekly negative Covid test.
The college says they plan to follow Executive Directive 18 as they have with previous actions and existing laws.
