PARKERSBURG, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Wood County authorities are currently investigating an incident in which law enforcement was led on a high-speed vehicle chase which ended with a truck going over an embankment.
According to the Wood County Sheriff’s Office, on Tuesday, January 9, 2024, Deputies were dispatched to the 193 Lost Pavement Road area regarding reports of a suspicious vehicle. The vehicle had left the area prior to the arrival of law enforcement and was said to have been headed toward Route 95.
The vehicle in question, a white Ford F-350, was observed by Sgt. BA Swiger of the Wood County Sheriff’s Office and was seen to be committing various traffic infractions in the area of Old Camden Avenue.
Eventually the vehicle made attempts to elude deputies at a high rate of speed before going over an embankment and landing in a creek bed at the end of 15th Avenue at the tree line.
Two occupants inside the vehicle were able to escape the scene on foot before deputies could arrive. The incident remains under investigation, and the vehicle is determined to have been stolen out of Wirt County.
