DAVIS, WV (LOOTPRESS) Winter enthusiasts have even more reason to Ski the Valley this season, as Timberline Mountain and Canaan Valley Resort announce significant upgrades designed to enhance the skiing and snowboarding experience in Tucker County.
Timberline Mountain, which reopened in 2020 with West Virginia’s first Doppelmayr six-passenger lift, continues to elevate its offerings with extensive snowmaking enhancements.
These include 4,000 feet of additional snowmaking pipe, the installation of seven new Super Polecat snow guns in key locations and a higher-capacity water pump at one of its holding ponds. Existing snow guns have also been strategically repositioned to maximize efficiency and ensure top-tier snow coverage throughout the season.
Complementing these upgrades, Timberline has added an exterior deck to the third floor of its base lodge, providing more covered outdoor seating. A new, larger maintenance building near the base of the Winterset Trail now houses the resort’s fleet of groomers, freeing up space in the base area and upper parking lot while improving equipment upkeep. Just seven miles away, Canaan Valley Resort has invested $5 million into snowmaking upgrades for the upcoming ski season.
“It’s exciting to see such substantial investments in our community,” said Jessica Waldo, Executive Director of the Tucker County Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB). “Whether you’re a first-time visitor or a returning guest, we invite you to explore the many winter adventures Tucker County has to offer.”
Ski The Valley is a seasonal initiative created by the Tucker County CVB, in partnership with Canaan Valley Resort, Timberline Mountain and White Grass Ski Touring Center. Evolving from a two-day ski ticket promotion, it now celebrates a full spectrum of seasonal activities, from skiing and snowboarding to tubing, snowshoeing and more.
Timberline Mountain is now open for the season, while Canaan Valley Resort is slated to open on December 21, weather permitting. Stay updated on opening dates and weather conditions by following the Tucker County CVB on social media. For more information, visit www.gettuckered.com.
