CRAIGSVILLE, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Two Nicholas County deputies were injured and hospitalized after trying to arrest a man.
According to the Nicholas County Sheriff’s Department, deputies responded to a home where Kelcey Nicholas threw several objects at his mother inside the home. While deputies were trying to arrest Nicholas, he headbutted one deputy in the face causing severe damage to his left eye and the side of his face.
Before being fingerprinted, another deputy asked Nicholas to wash his hands due to an unknown substance on his hands. As the accused was exiting the bathroom, he charged at the deputy, making physical contact causing the deputy to fall to the ground injuring his ankle. Both deputies were hospitalized due to their injuries.
One deputy sustained multiple fractures to his face. The second deputy sustained a broken ankle.
Kelcey is charged with two counts of malicious assault on a police officer, domestic assault, battery on a police officer, and obstructing.
He is currently in Central Regional Jail under a 53,500 dollar bond.
