SUMMERS COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Summers County mother is charged after her two-year-old child tested positive for marijuana, later admitting her child got into her marijuana bowl several times.
According to West Virginia State Police, troopers responded to a call on Friday, July 28, 2023, about a possible child neglect case. Once on the scene, police spoke to a victim, who advised that Jasmine Yancey brought her two-year-old grandson to her home, and the child appeared impaired. The caretaker said she took the child to Summers County ARH for medical treatment.
During an interview, the caretaker asked the child’s mother about the child being impaired, and the mother stated the child probably got ahold of her bowl. Ms. Yancey noted that the child had been getting into her marijuana bowl, and she probably needed to put it up. The child tested positive for marijuana while at the hospital.
Police interviewed Yancey; she told them that her child probably got ahold of her marijuana bowl. She went on to tell police that the child had gotten ahold of her marijuana bowl in the past and hadn’t been able to find it for several hours.
Yancey was arrested and charged with child neglect resulting in injury. She is being held in Southern Regional Jail.
