WHEELING, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Chapline Street in Wheeling has been closed for the remainder of 2024 to accommodate the planned dismantling of the Centre Market Parking Structure.
The street, located between 20th and 22nd streets, closed on Monday and looks to remain closed for 11 months. The change, announced on Monday by the Wheeling Police Department and earlier in the year by the City of Wheeling, will involve a number of stages to be carried out across an extended timeline which stretches into 2025.
The schedule for the project was finalized in February, according to the city, but is subject to change. The schedule provides guideline for the project’s major mileposts over the next 11 months, with updates to the schedule expected to be implemented as the project progresses.
While the closure of Chapline Street does hinder access to the Wheeling Police Station, the station will remain open and accessible through the front parking lot.
