INSTITUTE, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A woman was been pronounced dead on Sunday after being ejected from her vehicle in what authorities are calling a “road rage incident.”
The Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office reports that on Sunday, June 5, 2023, at around 4:15PM, Deputies were dispatched with regard to a rollover crash which occurred at the 51 mile-marker on Interstate 64, eastbound at Institute.
One female is said to have been ejected from the vehicle and died as a result of the ensuing injuries. The situation resulted in the closure of the roadway for nearly six hours to allow for reconstruction investigators to determine the circumstances surrounding the crash.
I was determined by investigators that two vehicles had been involved in a “road rage incident” and one of the vehicles had lost control before crashing. It is believed that one vehicles involved had gotten onto Interstate 64E at Nitro where the other vehicle, a blue Buick Rendezvous, had already been traveling eastbound.
According to witnesses, the motorists were driving recklessly and erratically over the next few miles. Deputies believe that, near the 51 mile-marker, the driver of the Buick made an aggressive maneuver towards the other vehicle, resulting in a loss of control.
The Buick reportedly crashed into the retaining wall then began to flip multiple times as the front passenger was eventually ejected. The driver and passenger are both said to have not been wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident.
The female passenger in the vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene and has been identified as 31-year-old, Amanda Gets of Missouri.
“Currently no charges have been filed against the drivers as this is still very early in the investigation,” reads a statement from the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office.
“Deputies have interviewed multiple witnesses and analyzed the scene where the crash occurred; however, if anyone has any information or video surveillance that could be helpful to investigators, please contact the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office.”
