MORGANTOWN, WV (LOOTPRESS) – West Virginia University (WVU) is taking proactive measures to ensure the safety and security of its campus community through a series of on-campus training exercises conducted by the WVU Police Department.
These training exercises, scheduled to take place on select days in July, will primarily focus on active shooter scenarios and crisis response education.
The training exercises will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Arnold Hall and Apartments, with the aim of providing officers with comprehensive and up-to-date active shooter training.
In line with the university’s commitment to fostering a safe environment, these exercises are essential for keeping officers prepared in case of an emergency situation.
To facilitate the training exercises effectively, the immediate areas surrounding the Arnold Hall Annex and Apartments will be secured and restricted to responders and authorized personnel only.
The main area of the building, however, will not be utilized during the exercises, ensuring continued accessibility for faculty, staff, and students.
During the training exercises, appropriate signage will be prominently displayed in the designated areas to inform and guide visitors. These signs will serve as a visual reminder of the ongoing exercises and the need to exercise caution while moving around the campus.
The WVU Police Department extended its appreciation for the understanding and cooperation of the campus community during this period of enhanced training.
