MERCER COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Mercer County Prosecuting Attorney Brian K. Cochran reports that Joshua Moses Redden, 38, of Princeton, West Virginia, was sentenced today by Circuit Court Judge William Sadler to the maximum penalties of 10-20 years in prison for sexual abuse by a parent guardian or custodian, and an additional 1-5 years in prison for strangulation.
According to Cochran, Sadler ordered the sentences to run consecutive to each other and also ordered Redden to register as a sex offender for life and that he serve an additional 15 years on supervised release in the event he is released from prison.
“This was a violent sexual offense, so we all thought the maximum penalties was the appropriate sentence and are thankful that the Judge agreed.” Cochran thanked the Mercer County Sheriff’s Department for its excellent investigation and also thanked his staff in the Prosecutor’s office. “Our Sheriff’s Department really did an incredible job gathering all of the evidence in this case.” Cochran further thanked the child victim and her family. “This is a brave young lady who stood up for herself after a horrific crime was committed against her, and there is no doubt in my mind that she’s going to do great things in her life”.
