CHARLESOTN, WV (LOOTPRESS) – YWCA Charleston has announced that it will be transitioning from Foodie Feast to Thanks Giving, a digital campaign set to last from November 1, 2024, to November 28, 2024.
Sponsored by Encova, the annual giving event has been active for over a quarter of a century from its beginnings as a dinner at Wellington’s to its evolution to a modern, virtual experience.
“This year, we’re excited to introduce our ‘Levels of Giving’ tiers as part of the YMCA’s Thanks Giving initiative campaign, aiming to raise crucial funds for the YWCA Sojourner’s Shelter for Homeless Women & Families,” said YWCA in a statement. “Instead of attending another holiday event, we invite you to help us provide a memorable feast for the residents and families at Sojourner’s Shelter.”
Proceeds will serve to benefit the YWCA Sojourner’s Shelter for Homeless Women & Families, which serves women with children, homeless single women, intact families, men with custody of their children, and veterans. The program offers counseling, substance abuse intervention, shelter, job training and placement, and educational advancement.
YWCA Sojourner’s has provided 610 homeless children and adults with 23,738 nights of shelter in the past year alone.
All Thanks Giving contributors will be recognized by WYCA Charleston on their website and social media outlets.
“Your generous gift is changing lives and making a direct impact on the families we serve in crisis,” said YWCA. “Funds collected will be used to provide food, personal care supplies, and other needs for the residents and families at YWCA Sojourner’s Shelter. Plus, with your donation, you’ll be entered for a chance to win a pair of tickets to a WVU mem’s basketball game!”
Thanks Giving funds will be utilized in the bridging of a financial gap within the Sojourner’s program to allow the organization to continue addressing family needs by offering a save environment of acceptance.
