NITRO, WV (LOOTPRESS) – With school and student activities making their way back into the schedules of both parents and students alike, additional emphasis is being placed on motorist caution and safety in school zone traffic areas.
The Nitro Police Department is among the law enforcement entities working to this end, with the agency issuing a reminder to motorists Wednesday that safety and alertness in school zones is crucial for the preservation of student safety.
“Now that school has been in session for a couple of weeks, the Nitro Police Department would like to remind motorists to drive safely and always be alert in school zones,” the statement read.
The agency then brought attention to the specifics of 3rd Avenue traffic flow at times of student pickup, asserting that additional attention will be given to the area to ensure that caution is being exercised.
“As a reminder, 3rd Avenue is a one way street. For Nitro Elementary arrival and dismissal, traffic must enter 3rd Ave. from 21st Street. Officers will be monitoring this area closely to ensure the safety of our students.”
In closing, the assistance of all traversing the area was requested in working to ensure the safety of students.
“The safety of our students is of the utmost priority and we need your help to make this happen.”
