Arley “Wilma” Moore, age 93, of Beaver, WV, passed away at Carilion Clinic in Roanoke, VA on Sunday, April 14, 2024.
Born September 2, 1930, at Panthers Knob, she was the daughter of the late Willie Elmer Harvey and Cecil Benson Harvey.
Arley, best known as Wilma, worked in retail (Murphy’s/Hecks) as a teenager and young adult. After getting married, she spent most of her life as a homemaker and as an avid gardener. Her passion was canning and cooking for her family, church family, and friends. Later, Wilma worked as a housekeeper at the Beckley Mine Academy and the Ramanda Inn before retiring to a fulltime gardener and canner.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death of her loving husband of 67 years, Clinton Monroe Moore, caring daughter in law Sue Moore, and sweet granddaughter Trish Blake. Wilma was the last surviving member of her immediate family including 12 siblings: Willie Harvey, Henrietta Harvey, Dicie Harvey, Carrie Cochran, Lataska Bennett, Hilda Harvey, Georgia Harvey, Carlus Harvey, Cleo Peters, Eloway Davis,twin sister Wilda Martin, and Anna Margret Harvey.
Those survivors left to carry on her legacy and cherish her memory include her daughter Sharon Toup of Roanoke, VA, and son Dennis Moore of Fayetteville, WV. Her grandchildren Sharon Kincaid of Columbia, SC, Teresa Toup of Roanoke, VA, and Angela Littreal and husband Robert of Fayetteville. Great grandchildren Aryel Toup, Randy Kincaid, Seth Blake, Clay Kincaid, Corey Littreal, Gracie Littreal, and Ryder Toup.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Little Bluestone Primitive Baptist Church, Mount View Road, Jumping Brach, WV on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at 2 PM with Elder Tommy Pack and Elder Joe Blevins officiating. Burial will follow at the Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens at Prosperity, WV. Friends may visit with the family from 12 PM until service time on Saturday at the church.
Family members will serve as pallbearers.
